1962 - Mandela Arrested

In January of 1962, Mandela left the country for military training and to gather support for the M.K. Later that year, he is arrested at a roadblock in KwaZulu-Natal and sentenced to five years in prison. At the time of the raid on Liliesleaf Farm in Rivonia, Mandela was in solitary confinement at a Pretoria jail, serving a five-year prison term for leaving the country without a passport and inciting a strike.
